ABOUT Iredell LETS

Iredell-LETS is part of a growing worldwide network of people who from the Piedmont region of North Carolina participate in a system of alternative community trading.

Iredell-LETS is a community based NON-PROFIT trading system that enables local members to exchange a wide variety of goods and services using LITTLE or NO CASH. It is a method of trading which depends on its members skills and their time instead of money, exchanging a unit of community currency (BAT$), not always as an replacment for U.S. dollars (you still have to pay the rent and utilities) but to compliment and expand/stretch the dollars you have. For more information see FAQ

An example of how trading in Iredell-LETS works:
For instance, you might mow Martha's yard for 20 BAT$, then use those 20 BAT$ to have Raoul play music at your Son's birthday party, later Raoul spends his BAT$ buying homemade baked goods from Roberta who spends some of her BAT$ buying printer/copier paper from Pete. Simple. No cash needed - as long as members provide goods or services to other Iredell-LETS members in return.
